Yesterday online streaming service Netflix experienced a massive global outage. When users were trying to open Netflix, it displayed an error message both on the application as well as website : Netflix error: this title is not available to watch instantly.
This outage is considered to be one of the first by Netflix as it had been able to scale its infrastructure and service without any major disruptions so far. Prior to this Netflix had suffered some minor outages in April and May this year. Netflix's infrastructure engineering team is considered to be one of the best in the industry and it has been able to scale its infrastructure smoothly, despite an exponential increase in the Netflix users.
Social media such as Twitter and Facebook was abuzz with memes where users were posting memes related to how they have nothing else to do since Netflix is down. The issue was resolved quickly and Netflix confirmed with posting a tweet “The streaming issues we reported earlier have now been resolved. Thank you for your patience, and as always, happy streaming!”
Netflix didn't mention what was the reason for the service disruption on the status page as it was also not loading during the outage.
