Here is a list of top CAD or Computer Aided Design Software

FreeCAD

FreeCAD is a general purpose parametric 3D CAD modeler. The development is completely Open Source (LGPL License). FreeCAD is aimed directly at mechanical engineering and product design but also fits in a wider range of uses around engineering, such as architecture or other engineering specialties.

FreeCAD features tools similar to Catia, SolidWorks or Solid Edge, and therefore also falls into the category of MCAD, PLM, CAx and CAE. It is a feature based parametric modeler with a modular software architecture which makes it easy to provide additional functionality without modifying the core system.

As with many modern 3D CAD modelers it has many 2D components in order to sketch 2D shapes or extract design details from the 3D model to create 2D production drawings, but direct 2D drawing (like AutoCAD LT) is not the focus, neither are animation or organic shapes (like Maya, 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D), although, thanks to its wide adaptability, FreeCAD might become useful in a much broader area than its current focus.

FreeCAD makes heavy use of all the great open-source libraries that exist out there in the field of Scientific Computing. Among them are OpenCascade, a powerful CAD kernel, Coin3D, an incarnation of Open Inventor, Qt, the world-famous UI framework, and Python, one of the best scripting languages available. FreeCAD itself can also be used as a library by other programs.
FreeCAD is also fully multi-platform, and currently runs flawlessly on Windows and Linux/Unix and Mac OSX systems, with the exact same look and functionality on all platforms.

Sketchup

SketchUp (formerly Google Sketchup) is a 3D modeling computer program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, civil and mechanical engineering, film, and video game design—and available in a freeware version, SketchUp Make, and a paid version with additional functionality, SketchUp Pro.

SketchUp comes with a 3D Gallery that lets you search for models and share yours. These are any type of model that you can imagine: furniture, houses, cars, statues…

SketchUp features include:

* Easy to use
* You can find out what part of the model is hit by the sun
* Experiment with colours and textures
* See the mock-ups

And much more….

If you like decoration and drawing, you’ll have a great time with SketchUp.

Autodesk AutoCAD

AutoCAD is a software application for both 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting — available since 1982 as a desktop application and since 2010 as a mobile web- and cloud-based app, currently marketed as Autocad 360.

AutoCAD is used across a range of industries, including architects, project managers and engineers, among other professions. AutoCAD's DWG file format has been widely adopted.

AutoCAD offers an extensive API for extensions and custom objects, a modern 3D rendering engine and modeling tools, and several import and export options.

A free 30-day trial version is available with registration. Perpetual licences for this product were no longer sold after 31 July 2016.

LibreCAD

LibreCAD (originally QCad then CADuntu) is an open source 2D CAD application for Windows, Apple and Linux. It is based on Qt, which is a leading cross-platform application and UI development framework.

LibreCAD can read DWG files (and others) as of the latest Nightly build. It writes DXF files, but can also export SVG, JPG, PNG, PDF and other files. It has layers, blocks, splines, polylines, ellipse tools, advanced tangent line & circle tools, transformation tools, an advanced snapping system and more. Because LibreCAD focuses on 2D geometry it is fast and lightweight, with an installer ofless than 30mb.

SolidWorks

Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. develops and markets 3D CAD design software, analysis software, and product data management software. SolidWorks is the leading supplier of 3D CAD product design engineering software.

Onshape

Onshape is a professional CAD system – Parts, Assemblies, Drawings – with version control and collaboration built in. Each Onshape plan (Free, Professional & Enterprise) gives you all of the CAD and data management functionality with no time limit.

- Onshape is the first full-cloud 3D CAD system. It runs in a web browser and on any mobile device.
- Onshape uses cloud-native Documents, not files.
- You create parts in Onshape Part Studios and can have as many Part Studios as you need in a single Document.
- Onshape Assemblies use a new, simplified approach to mating parts.
- Onshape changes the way you collaborate.You can instantly share Documents and simultaneously work with your peers.
- Onshape streamlines data management with built-in version control.
